So long and thanks for all the deviancy。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Despite being someone who adores ‘Beastars’, its final volume was very disappointing when compared to the gripping first。 Many plot threads were discarded and/or forgotten; key moments rushed; characters barely progressed in their development, and a lot of what gave the series its charm was lost due to this final arc feeling more at home in a Shounen battle manga (which ‘Beastars’ is not)。 Even worse than these, however, is that the conclusion almost makes everything experienced by Legoshi & co。 Despite being someone who adores ‘Beastars’, its final volume was very disappointing when compared to the gripping first。 Many plot threads were discarded and/or forgotten; key moments rushed; characters barely progressed in their development, and a lot of what gave the series its charm was lost due to this final arc feeling more at home in a Shounen battle manga (which ‘Beastars’ is not)。 Even worse than these, however, is that the conclusion almost makes everything experienced by Legoshi & co。 pointless, because absolutely nothing about society changes。 And that doesn’t even begin to express my bafflement at Yafya’s decision not to put an end to predation incidents once and for all by proposing carnivores eat fish meat-believe me, I cringed reading that scene-or Louis’ tragic predicament。 Critiques aside, Itagaki still gave us a visually immersive world and a number of strong chapters that are sure to be of inspiration for many creatives to come (the Murder Solution Arc was especially memorable for its golden content)。 Most volumes are worth five stars in my opinion, so one underwhelming final arc isn’t going to taint my fondness for the series。 All in all, a commendable effort for this mangaka’s first series! 。。。more

I like the reflection that it takes the people rising up to truly change the world and that it takes time。

I decided to pick up this book because I had really got into the tv show on Netflix and it was left on a cliff hanger so I had to pick up the books to finish it up。 I would always hear from people to pick up the book because it is just so much different then the tv show and I would hear non-stop good things about It。 The main character named Legoshi is just such a extraordinary main character that you can never really just understand what his next move will be。 He is like no other main character I decided to pick up this book because I had really got into the tv show on Netflix and it was left on a cliff hanger so I had to pick up the books to finish it up。 I would always hear from people to pick up the book because it is just so much different then the tv show and I would hear non-stop good things about It。 The main character named Legoshi is just such a extraordinary main character that you can never really just understand what his next move will be。 He is like no other main character I have ever read about or heard about and I really love the complexity that goes into him and what his goals are。 The main character Legoshi is really single storied from every herbivore from his high school since he is a giant grey wolf who is always quiet。 In every scenario he is considered the mysterious and confusing person in the situations。 His goals don't make sense to most other carnivores and sometimes he doesn't know either。 Legoshi starts to fall into this stage where he craves meat and wants to eat a herbivore but his whole goal is to help herbivores and to stand up for them but this urge takes over him and gets extremely close。 So after that he swears to himself that he will never eat a herbivore and to only protect them and help them when in danger。 He fights all his urges by training himself by being in a dark room with a pile of meat and just fighting his natural instincts to go consume the meat laying in front of him。 Then he pursues his dreams and starts to fight with criminals who are known for eating herbivores for there needs and soon has to save his crush Haru from them。 At the end he ends up saving Haru and telling her how he feels about her but her saying that she is terrified of him because he is a giant grey wolf and she's just a small dwarf rabbit。 Then Legoshi promising her that he will grow stronger to just protect her and will always be there to protect her。 For me personally the things that made this book so enjoyable to read was the authors incredible story telling。 Always having a twist to every part of the story and always surprising you with things that you would never expect and it always kept the story interesting。 To have these twists of people being kidnapped or people getting into mafias when you wouldn't expect them to be in one but as you see the character development of the characters you can really see from there point of view of what they want and there goals。 This is a book I recommend to others as I think this book can really teach you to be proud of who you really are and that you shouldn't let others bring you down when you have your own goals to achieve even if they don't agree。 。。。more

So sad to see this series end。 I loved every minute of it。 Paru Itagaki really created a gem here covering complex themes and gripping characters that I couldn't get enough of。 My favorite part of this series was getting to see some of the selected characters' family life and backstories。 I can't wait to buy every manga and get physical copies on my shelf。 So sad to see this series end。 I loved every minute of it。 Paru Itagaki really created a gem here covering complex themes and gripping characters that I couldn't get enough of。 My favorite part of this series was getting to see some of the selected characters' family life and backstories。 I can't wait to buy every manga and get physical copies on my shelf。 。。。more

I watched the anime back when covid started and for some reason held off on the manga until February and I’m just getting to this review。 Absolutely great series and its saddening how people brush it off because of how its animals。 The ending was a little abrupt and I wish Haru had more page time in the second half of the series。 Besides that I loved every moment in each volume ♥️

My rating for the whole manga is a 3。5, honestly。 I think it was thoroughly entertaining and fantastically weird for the most part, but unfortunately those very best characteristics kinda fall apart near the ending。 There were plenty of things left unanswered, plot lines abandoned or concluded with a mere panel or sentence… the manga just kinda stops。 It’s not that it ends in a bad way, it’s just that it doesn’t seem like an ending at all。 It feels very much unfinished。I do think it’s worth read My rating for the whole manga is a 3。5, honestly。 I think it was thoroughly entertaining and fantastically weird for the most part, but unfortunately those very best characteristics kinda fall apart near the ending。 There were plenty of things left unanswered, plot lines abandoned or concluded with a mere panel or sentence… the manga just kinda stops。 It’s not that it ends in a bad way, it’s just that it doesn’t seem like an ending at all。 It feels very much unfinished。I do think it’s worth reading though, it felt very original and thought-provoking。 Also, even though it starts out rather strong graphically, it never really escalates in that area。 Heavy topics are certainly present, but it still manages to remain friendly for people without the particular inclination one might consider needed to enjoy this manga (it is not, trust me)。 。。。more

Wonderful series。 Would have liked a look a bit further in the future as the ending but it was marvelous and thrilling nonetheless。 This series showed more humanity than manga with actual humans typically has。

3。5/5Warning: Spoilers aheadThe ending was a bit underwhelming for me, with very few of the characters around Legoshi getting their arcs fulfilled。 For example, Jack is going to university。 I mean, good for him, but I had the feeling he wanted to do something else based on how he reacted to the Whale Ex Machina information prior in the story。 Juno and Louis's relationship is fairly tragic as well。 It kind of felt like the characters (outside of Haru and Legoshi) settled into the status quo of th 3。5/5Warning: Spoilers aheadThe ending was a bit underwhelming for me, with very few of the characters around Legoshi getting their arcs fulfilled。 For example, Jack is going to university。 I mean, good for him, but I had the feeling he wanted to do something else based on how he reacted to the Whale Ex Machina information prior in the story。 Juno and Louis's relationship is fairly tragic as well。 It kind of felt like the characters (outside of Haru and Legoshi) settled into the status quo of their society。 I do feel a bit sad for Haru; she's shaped up to be a rather large character and then kind of ends up as a symbol for Legoshi's protective instinct, getting far less time than Louis。 Louis ends up as Legoshi's other half (plus or minus a foot), while Haru barely appears at all other than to act as Legoshi's temptation, and, finally, his reward。 Legoshi often thinks of the hybrid children he could have with Haru, yet we rarely hear her thoughts on this at all :(。 Things I liked: The artstyle, as usual, was pretty gorgeous (the Legoshi in a rabbit costume thing made me think the Hidden Chimaeras were back tho)Legoshi's remarks about the girls' uniform (though him only fighting the female fox squad wearing heels felt a bit random, and I didn't like how he had to protect them in the end)The twist that Melon's father was just a deadbeat dad, which means that relationships between carnivores and herbivores really can work out。 Scattered questions:Who did Melon's mail come from when he's in prison? Why did the Hidden Chimaera just not come into play? What happened to the Drama Club and all its members? Theater and melodrama seemed to be an integral part of the series (though that could just be my view from watching the anime first, which leant hard into theater throughout the first season)。 Why did no one seem to care that Gosha and Legoshi were related? (Tangent, but when Melon fired while legoshi said "Grandpa", I was 100% sure Gosha was going to get shot。 Why did that not happen? I love Gosha but it could've been a better twist than Melon literally just shooting himself again。 WHY ARE LOUIS AND LEGOSHI NOT BEASTARS? It's hinted at throughout, be it by talking about how beastars plural isn't a thing, or the parallels between Yahya and Gosha, and Louis and Legoshi。 I mean, Legoshi solved Tem's murder and Louis helped reshape society by openly acknowledging the black market (seriously not sure how that worked out though), and the series is named "Beastars"! It all felt a bit misleading that the whole concept of the Beastar is left so underdeveloped, though that could be due to never having the end planned out? I don't know。 No matter what, I still think Beastars is a great piece of speculative fiction, and I hope that season 3 of the anime can rectify/do damage control to the ending。 I will devour it and the other companion works Paru has been putting out all the same。 。。。more
